About Dr. Arthur Hatton
Psy.D.
Dr. Hatton is a licensed clinical psychologist who received his M.S. in experimental psychology and Psy.D. in clinical psychology from Georgia Southern University. He completed his predoctoral internship at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville Student Counseling Center, where he worked as a full-time staff member for 5 years.
Dr. Hatton is a generalist who specializes in mood disorders, such as anxiety and depression, as well as life transitions, religion and spirituality, shyness and social anxiety, stress management, and religious trauma. Dr. Hatton uses Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), informed by feminist and multicultural approaches. He is also highly interested in creative expression as a therapeutic tool. Dr. Hatton also does psychological assessment and diagnosis.
Dr. Hatton is a published scientific researcher specializing in mindfulness as an intervention for stress and anxiety. Dr. Hatton’s research also focused on the psychology of politics, religion, the media, and current events, particularly as these impact minority groups such as the American Muslim community and refugees.
When he is not working as a psychologist, Dr. Hatton is a songwriter, music performer, and visual artist, and loves seeing new places with his family.
