Zulaen Fernandez holds a BS in Psychology from Boise State University and an MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Corban University. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision with a specialization in Addiction Studies at the University of the Cumberlands. Zulaen specializes in treating depression, anxiety, self-esteem issues, body image concerns, inner child work, attachment issues, and substance use. She is independently licensed in Tennessee (LPC-MHSP) and Idaho (LCPC), and is a Registered Supervisor in Idaho.

Zulaen has extensive experience in outpatient settings, re-entry and drug court programs, and developing and managing partial hospitalization programs. She also teaches graduate-level clinical mental health counseling courses, sharing her expertise with future clinicians to prepare them for real-world practice.

Her therapeutic approach is rooted in person-centered theory, offering a safe, supportive, and understanding environment where clients are empowered to explore their strengths and engage in open, honest discussions. Zulaen integrates various evidence-based practices tailored to the client’s unique needs, including Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), with a focus on fostering growth and healing. She also believes in the power of humor and often incorporates it into sessions to help clients feel at ease and encourage a genuine, human connection.
